What Wellix does

Wellix turns a photo, a typed description or a spoken description of a meal into an itemised estimate of calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat. When something is genuinely ambiguous, it asks one clarifying question instead of guessing, and you can correct any item before saving.

It also sets daily calorie and macro targets from your body, your goal and your chosen pace, using formulas we publish in full. It can generate a personal nutrition plan, and it tracks weight, water and body measurements alongside what you ate.

What Wellix does not do

Wellix has no barcode scanner and does not sync with Apple Health or Health Connect. We have not published a validated accuracy figure for our own scanner, so we do not claim one. Published research on photo-based estimation is the best guide to what to expect from this kind of app.

Wellix is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a history of disordered eating, talk to a qualified healthcare professional before changing your diet.

How Wellix makes money

Wellix earns revenue from Premium subscriptions and from non-personalised ads shown to users on the free plan. Premium removes the daily scan limits and the ads, and unlocks the full personal nutrition plan.

Where the numbers come from

Meal estimates come from third-party AI vision models. We send your photo or description to our AI providers, Anthropic and xAI, as described in our privacy policy. Treat every result as an estimate that you can correct.

The food reference pages on this site use USDA FoodData Central, and each page links to the USDA record it was built from. The calorie calculator uses the same formulas as the app.

Wellix provides general nutrition information and is not medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. Calorie and macronutrient targets are estimates produced by predictive equations, and individual requirements vary. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before making significant dietary changes, particularly if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a history of disordered eating, diabetes, kidney disease, thyroid disease, or any other medical condition.
